Client Profile: Cathy Thomas

Cathy Thomas shares her home with husband Jon Dyck, nine year old daughter Sydney, and three year old twin boys Jack and Lucas. A few notes on their design aesthetic and art collection:

Jon and I have a somewhat contemporary style and tend to keep to fairly neutral colours on our walls and also simple designs. We try to keep our house clutter free as we have two boys who tend to run around and get into things. Hence, we have ended up adding pieces that are either simple in nature (as the rest of our life isn't), and also ones with colour to add dimension.

Madeleine Lamont
This piece was given to me for Mother's Day in 2009. The colours are fantastic in this piece. I loved the red and pink peonies.

David Gillanders
I love the simplicity of this oil painting and the green/grey colour. We get the most compliments on this particular piece.

Agnieszka Foltyn
This work was for our 11th anniversary. Our house is very white and this piece undoubtedly adds colour and is very fun!!! It has totally brightened up our dining room.

Tammy Ratcliff
The Tammy Ratcliff was for our 10th year anniversary and we were drawn to the abstract nature of the black bird and the cherry tree. We loved the mixed media and it fit perfectly in the space on the landing going to the second floor.

Jessica Masters
These were our first big purchases in our first home on Keewatin Avenue. We literally had no art at the time. We thought they were very versatile and could go in many spaces. In our first home they were in our living room, and in this home they are on the second floor landing.

This piece was given to us as a baby gift for Sydney from Shira and Lisa. When I first moved to Toronto in 1997 we lived at 319 Lonsdale. I worked out at Forest Hill Fitness. This is where I first met Shira and Lisa. They literally saw me through my entire pregnancy and were kind enough to give Sydney this piece when she was born.
