Sharon Brown is a performer and educator who gravitates towards works of art that make a statement. The art that hangs on the walls of her home, that she shares with her two sons and husband, varies in medium and subject matter. Personally, she is attracted to the spirit of strong females, be it the artist who created the work, or the subject matter of a painting. This feminine spirit is found in prettier elements too, like in paintings of butterflies or a vintage bowl.
The opening reception of our 20th Annual Festival of Smalls was a whirlwind, and, as always, it was thrilling to watch hundreds of works fly off the gallery walls. It was certainly our busiest Festival yet, attended by old and new clients, artists, friends and family. If you haven't had a chance to make it in, there is still time! New works are arriving in the gallery weekly until December 24th, so check us out online or in store.
This client's varied tastes define her collection. From traditional to contemporary, small and large works find a home in almost every corner.
I could have spent the entire day talking to the charming designing duo Andrew Bottecchia and Hal Eisen, of Bottecchia Artistic Group Inc., when I visited them at their stylish penthouse last week. It was inspiring and refreshing to experience a space so dominated by art and see a collection replete with portraiture. While I slowly absorbed the works, the two passionately discussed the origins of individual pieces and their interactions with the artists and dealers. Hal, having been a collector of art since his teens, quickly passed on his addiction to Andrew when the two met.
Friend and former Art Interiors manager Larissa Furlong boasts an impressive and personally familiar collection of art. Known to me are the works of art she purchased from the gallery over the many years we worked together. Larissa's reaction to art was always immediate: she fell in love quickly and knew when she had to own a particular piece.
