Shira often gravitates to contemporary works that are minimal or conceptual. Dorian Scott's graphic pastries, and Tek Yang's photograph "What Remains: Piled Receipts III", exemplify her aesthetic, and serve to maintain a sense of calm in her kitchen.
Above the fireplace is one of the most common areas where people look for ‘the piece.’ We often attempt to push clients out of their comfort zone – why not try a vertical piece in a horizontal space, or an eclectic grouping, or a pairing with objects and old family photos?
The kitchen is the heart of the home. Fine art in the kitchen serves to increase the soulfulness of the room where so many hours are spent. Lisa's cozy, bright space is a perfect example.
Graphic and playful artworks animate the walls in Lisa and Shira's sons' bedrooms. Animal and transportation themed pieces and bright abstract works create a wonderful environment for homework and play. (And play we did. After shooting Shira's house early this week I found myself losing terribly to her son in an intense toy car racing game…)
