The art in Heather's home reflects a transition in her taste. When she first started collecting, she was drawn to more traditional paintings; now, it is the contemporary that she covets. As a result, beautiful expressive oil paintings hang alongside both bold abstract works, and paintings inherited by her grandmother.
Sharon Brown is a performer and educator who gravitates towards works of art that make a statement. The art that hangs on the walls of her home, that she shares with her two sons and husband, varies in medium and subject matter. Personally, she is attracted to the spirit of strong females, be it the artist who created the work, or the subject matter of a painting. This feminine spirit is found in prettier elements too, like in paintings of butterflies or a vintage bowl.
I love to collect many things. I love colour and lots of quirky figurines, dolls, boxes, etc.. wherever I can get it. Grouping little vignettes is something I've done all of my life. Even when I was a little girl in my room, I'd set up little scenes involving various objects and my dolls. I'd enjoy the little stories I'd create, and then change them at my whim.
A stunning modern interior provides the perfect backdrop for this contemporary art collection from Art Interiors. Particularly inspiring are the children's bedrooms. Amidst schoolbooks, toys, dolls and baseball hats, are playful and sophisticated artworks. Photographer: Michael Revil Madjus
I rode the QEW Hamilton Express last Saturday, armed with a bottle of wine, and a small Elizabeth Lennie painting in hand. The destination: a bright and beautiful condo near Locke St., home to newlyweds Erika Woods (former Art Interiors' Manager!) and Brenden Desjardins.
