Montreal based artist Hannah Alpha has been working to refine and simplify her expression of the human body in movement over the past twenty years. For ten years she has been practicing the ancient practice of Tai Chi; with its repeated movements this form has impacted her work on the human figure. With a few minimal lines, Alpha illustrate the human figure in its most simple form. She looks at Chinese calligraphy for inspiration, but develops her own individual process of making lines through a combination of eastern and western sensibilities. Alpha has liberated herself from all superfluous forms. Her work can be found in private and public collections around the world.
