art interiors' blog

Thanks to A.I. staffer Jet Melencio, the walls in the gallery have never looked better.
Since working at Art Interiors, I have marked almost every significant occasion in my life through the acquisition of a new work of art. My most prized pieces I make sure to hang where I can see and enjoy them most often. Here is a glimpse at the works I wake up to every morning.
Kelly Grace shares a large, lively studio space in the east end with three other artists, often working long into the night. Fortunately, the space is equipped with a kitchen, couch (for those late nights), and studio mascot. Kelly showed me the retro objects that inspire her work, along with the portrait drawings that serve as the foundation to her popular ‘Date Night Series.’
When this client showed me around his home, that he shares with his wife and three children, his passion for collecting art and antiques was palpable. Each object, be it a work of art, lalique perfume bottle, or antique jewellery container, had a backstory which captured a mood or marked a significant event.
Last Friday, Erin Rothstein gave me a tour of her bright and airy studio, and unveiled her most recent series of paintings: espresso-based drinks in her signature style of high realism. We talked about the business of art, our favourite Toronto indie coffee shops, and her current inspirations.
